World2Fly launches its new direct route between Madrid and Cartagena de Indias
World2Fly, the airline of the World2Meet group, has today launched its new direct route between Madrid and Cartagena de Indias, in Colombia, with the departure of the first flight marking the official start of operations between the two cities.
- The airline will operate a weekly frequency on Fridays using an Airbus A350 with capacity for 432 passengers
- The connection is integrated into Newblue's holiday programmes and reinforces the commitment to Colombia and Latin America
The route will operate with a weekly frequency every Friday on an Airbus A350, with capacity for 432 passengers, establishing a direct connection between Madrid and Cartagena de Indias that facilitates travel between Spain and Colombia.
The new connection maintains World2Fly's commitment to Colombia, where the airline already connects Madrid with Cali via two weekly frequencies, and expands its presence in Latin America, a key region within its long-haul destination network.
The route responds to the growing demand from travellers interested in discovering Colombia's rich cultural, natural and gastronomic heritage, and contributes to improving connectivity between Spain and Colombia, bringing Cartagena de Indias closer to one of the country's main European source markets.
The Madrid to Cartagena de Indias connection has been integrated into the holiday programmes of Newblue, the World2Meet group's tour operator, offering proposals designed to facilitate a comprehensive discovery of the destination. Among the highlights are circuits combining Cartagena de Indias with Isla Barú and Santa Marta, bringing travellers closer to some of the main spots on the Colombian Caribbean through experiences that integrate culture, nature, history and beach. For those looking for a more complete journey, the Combined Circuit: Coffee Region and Cartagena de Indias allows travellers to combine the coast with the interior of the country, including destinations such as Cali and the coffee-growing region.
In the words of Carmen Caballero, President of ProColombia: "We welcome this new direct connection between Madrid and Cartagena de Indias, which strengthens air connectivity between Spain and Colombia and broadens the opportunities for more international travellers to discover the diversity of experiences our country has to offer. Spain is a strategic market for Colombian tourism and this route helps continue positioning Cartagena and the Colombian Caribbean to travellers interested in culture, history, nature and gastronomy. Partnerships such as this reflect the work we drive at ProColombia to take our promotion from the desk to the territory and from the territory to the world, bringing more international visitors to our regions and consolidating Colombia, the Country of Beauty, as an increasingly competitive and well-connected destination."
Bruno Claeys, Managing Director of World2Fly, added: "With the launch of our new direct route between Madrid and Cartagena de Indias, we are reinforcing our commitment to Colombia and consolidating our dedication to connectivity between Spain and Latin America. This connection responds to genuine demand from our clients and to the growing interest in destinations with great tourism and cultural appeal. At World2Fly we continue working to offer a comfortable, efficient flight experience tailored to the needs of our passengers."
This new route represents a further step in World2Fly's international development strategy and in the World2Meet group's commitment to offering comprehensive, high-quality tourism products, boosting the profile of Cartagena de Indias as a reference destination for European travellers, particularly in the long-haul segment between Europe and the Colombian Caribbean.
