Icárion celebrates five years of growth alongside travel agencies

Five years after its first passenger set off on a journey, Icárion celebrates its anniversary having consolidated its position as World2Meet's long-haul travel brand and strengthened its role as a partner to travel agencies. Since its launch, the company has accompanied more than 110,000 travellers across 105 countries, figures that reflect the evolution of its proposition and its ability to adapt to the new needs of both travellers and the distribution channel.

Over these five years, Icárion has developed a travel model based on digitalisation, sustainability, flexibility and genuine connection with the destination experience. This proposition has allowed the brand to progressively expand its international presence and consolidate a specialist portfolio designed to help travel agencies market itineraries tailored to different client profiles.

As part of this evolution, Icárion has gone from operating in 36 countries during its first year to reaching 105 countries in the most recent financial year. This growth reflects the expansion of its operational capacity and the consolidation of a diverse international offering, with notable specialisation in regions such as South-East Asia and the Maldives, East Africa, Latin America and Northern Europe, though by no means limited exclusively to these destinations.

Collaboration with travel agencies has been one of the brand's main areas of development since its creation. During this period, more than 4,000 agents have taken part in training initiatives promoted by Icárion, which has delivered over 1,000 hours of channel-focused training. These initiatives have aimed to strengthen product knowledge, provide sales tools and support agents in building more specialist travel proposals.

As part of its training activity, Icárion has run more than 90 "Viaje con el Paladar" ("Travel Through Taste") sessions, an initiative designed to bring agencies closer to the culture, gastronomy and distinctive experiences of each destination. This programme forms part of the brand's commitment to offering the channel valuable content that helps improve advice to end clients.

That same philosophy is embodied in "El Gran Viaje a través del Paladar" ("The Great Journey Through Taste"), a series of itineraries developed in partnership with renowned chefs that uses gastronomy as the guiding thread for discovering the cultural essence of some of the most singular destinations in its programme.

On sustainability, Icárion has offset more than 40,000 tonnes of CO₂ over these five years, an amount equivalent to the carbon captured by more than 660,000 trees over ten years. This figure reflects the brand's commitment to developing a more responsible tourism activity and to integrating sustainability criteria into its value proposition.

In the words of Fernando Sánchez, Managing Director of Icárion: "Reaching five years is a hugely significant milestone for Icárion. During this period we have consolidated a long-haul travel proposition based on specialisation, flexibility, digitalisation and sustainability, always with travel agencies as a strategic partner. This anniversary allows us to highlight the growth we have achieved and, at the same time, reaffirm our commitment to the channel, to the traveller and to a way of travelling that is more deeply connected with the real experience at the destination."

Looking ahead, Icárion will continue to develop its long-haul travel proposition with the aim of further expanding its portfolio, strengthening its relationship with agencies and advancing solutions that combine innovation, sustainability and specialisation. The brand enters this new stage with the purpose of sustaining its growth and consolidating its role within World2Meet's tourism value chain.
